The future of the census in Canada

Join the fight to preserve the census is an item posted on CanGenealogy.com from Dave Obee. Here's the top part of that post.

Read the complete article at www.cangenealogy.com/optin2.html and consider writing to your Member of Parliament as suggested.

Beyond 2021 there may well be larger concerns for genealogists, as reported by Global News in StatsCan looking to go digital and ditch short-form census. The proposal is for a digital register of every Canadian that could be updated every five years, if not annually. Would that be accessible as is the census? Or would advocates insist that privacy of those long dead be forever protected?
